Onstar Communication Interface Module (CIM)

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: After installation of the communication interface module (CIM), the technician must contact the OnStar Technical Center to register the new module, using the information from the OnStar system on the vehicle. If this is not performed, be system will not be recognized and the system will be inoperable for the customer

1. Disconnect battery.




2. Remove the fastener located on the bottom of the OnStar bracket.
3. Tilt the module inboard to the center of the vehicle and pull down communication interface module (CIM).




4. Disconnect connectors, GPS antenna, and cellular coax.




5. Remove bolts from the OnStar bracket assembly.
6. Lower the bracket and remove communication interface module (CIM) from vehicle.

INSTALLATION




1. Install OnStar communication interface module (CIM) bracket.




2. Connect connectors, GPS antenna, and cellular coax to communication interface module (CIM).
3. Record SID number and module number from outside of communication interface module (CIM) case.
4. Tilt communication interface module (CIM) inboard and install.




5. Install CIM fastener and tighten.

Torque:
CIM Fastener: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
