Coolant Temperature Telltale

The Coolant Temperature telltale is used to alert the driver that the engine may be in an overheated condition. The BCM controls the Coolant Temperature telltale by using the coolant temperature information sent by the ECM to the BCM for coolant temperature gauge control. The BCM will send a message to the I/P cluster to turn On the coolant temperature telltale when the coolant temperature reaches 119°C (246°F). If this condition exists, the ECM will set DTC P0217. If a high temp/low voltage fault exists in the ECT sensor circuit, the signal is considered invalid and the Coolant Temperature telltale will NOT be illuminated. The cooling fan will be commanded On.
