Check Engine Light (Service Engine Soon) Illuminated, Diagnostic Trouble Code P1683 and/or P0116 Set (Reprogram ECM)

Models Affected:
2003 ION Vehicles

Attention:
General Manager, Fixed Operations Manager, Technician

Condition:

Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon light is illuminated. DTC P1683 and/or P0116 are set.

Cause:

The ECM software/calibration may incorrectly fail the diagnostic test for P1683 and/or P0116.

Correction:

Reprogram the ECM if DTC P1683 and/or P0116 are set.

Service Procedure:

Reprogram the ECM using Saturn Service Stall/Techline software release TIS 04/2003 or higher data CD.

This new calibration will disable both DTC P1683 and DTC P0116. Refer to Service Programming System" in the Vehicle Control Systems section of the 2003 Saturn ION Service Manual, Vol. 3 for instructions to reprogram ECM.
