The purpose of this bulletin is to describe the operation of the L-Series wagon liftgate for each of the 2000 - 2004 model years. On certain model year Saturn L-Series wagons, the liftgate release button will not open the liftgate after operating the vehicle. This is a normal function of the liftgate release auto lock feature. Once the liftgate is unlocked using the key, the key fob remote, or the door lock switch, the liftgate release button becomes functional again. See the chart shown to determine when the auto lock feature is applicable.
