Drive Belt: Service and Repair

ENGINE DRIVE BELT AND TENSIONER REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 44811 Accessory Belt tensioner Unloader

REMOVAL

CAUTION: THE TENSIONER ASSEMBLY IS NOT SERVICEABLE. TO AVOID INJURY, DO NOT DISASSEMBLE TENSIONER.





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
3. Remove right wheel and splash shield.
4. Install Accessory Belt tensioner Unloader J44811 onto tensioner.
5. Remove accessory drive belt.





IMPORTANT: To remove tensioner bolt, an access hole has been provided through the inner and outer engine rail.

6. Remove tensioner bolt.
7. Remove tensioner assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Install tensioner assembly and bolt (if removed).
Torque:
Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt: 45 N.m (33) ft. lbs.)
2. Route belt around alternator and A/C compressor





3. Install J-39914 Accessory Drive Belt Tool onto tensioner and unload spring tension from tensioner while positioning the belt.
4. Release tensioner and remove tool.
5. Install right engine inner splash shield.
6. Install right wheel and hand tighten wheel nuts.
7. Lower vehicle.
Torque:
Wheel Nuts: 125 N.m (92 ft. lbs.)
8. Connect negative battery cable.
Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolt: 17 N.m (13 ft. lbs.)
