Alternator: Service and Repair

GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 44811 Accessory Drive Belt Removal

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Record all pre-set radio stations.

1. Ignition Off.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Remove throttle body air duct.

IMPORTANT: Use required Accessory Drive Belt Removal J 44811.




4. Remove accessory drive belt.
5. Disconnect generator electrical connections.




6. Remove generator to engine block bolts and generator.

INSTALLATION
1. Position generator and install top bolts finger tight.
2. Install bottom bolts and tighten all generator bolts.

Torque:
Generator-to-Engine Block Bolts: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)

3. Connect electrical connections.

Torque:
B+ Cable-to-Generator Nut: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)

IMPORTANT: Use required accessory drive belt removal tool No. J 44811.

4. Install accessory drive belt.
5. Install throttle body air duct.
6. Connect negative battery cable.

Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolt: 17 N.m (13 ft-lbs)

7. Reprogram radio stations.
