Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

PROPORTIONING VALVE

REMOVAL





1. Remove Transaxle Control Module (TCM) from body bracket, fold over and lay on top of engine.

NOTICE: After removing brake pipe nuts, do not excessively pull or bend brake pipes away from proportioning valve.

NOTICE: Plug open brake pipes to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.





2. Remove brake pipes from proportioning valve assembly.





3. Remove proportioning valve fasteners and proportioning valve from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Position valve into vehicle and install proportioning valve fasteners.
Torque:
Proportioning Valve-To-Body Bolts: 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: During brake pipe installation, do not excessively pull or bend brake pipes away from proportioning valve.





2. Install brake pipes into proportioning valve and tighten nuts.
Torque:
Brake Pipe Nuts: 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)

3. Fill brake fluid reservoir with clean brake fluid up to "MAX" mark on reservoir.
4. Bleed brakes.
