Installation Procedure

1. Install new O-ring seals onto the oil cooler.
2. Install the engine oil cooler.

3. Apply a 2 mm (.008 in) bead of P/N 12378521, or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover in place of an oil seal.
4. Install the engine oil cooler cover.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts using the torque sequence shown. Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
6. Install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts. Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

7. Attach the oil cooler line set at the oil cooler.
8. Raise and support the vehicle.
9. Install the oil feed line.
10. Install the return line.
11. Install the oil feed line to the engine block.
12. Install the return line to the engine block. Tighten the oil cooler feed and return lines-to-engine block to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
13. Install the engine oil cooler line clamp.

14. Install the crank sensor.
15. Install the crank sensor bolt. Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolt to 8 N.m (71 LB in).
16. Install the oil filter housing.
17. Install the oil filter cap with the element. Tighten the oil filter cap to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

18. Lower the vehicle.
19. Install the oil feed and install return lines to the engine oil cooler. Use 4 new seals. Tighten the oil cooler feed and return lines-to-cooler to 30 N.m (22 lb ft) +15 degrees.

20. Install the intake manifold spacer assembly. Tighten the intake manifold spacer bolts to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
21. Install the coolant bridge.
22. Install the intake manifold.
23. Inspect and fill as necessary.
