Intake Manifold Runner and Linkage Replacement

REMOVAL

CAUTION: THE INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER SHAFT/SEAL, DIAPHRAGM/LINKAGE AND MECHANICAL LINKAGE IS SERVICED AS AN ASSEMBLY. WHEN SERVICING INTAKE MANIFOLD, DO NOT USE POWER TOOLS.

NOTE: Damage to threads or manifold may result.




1. Loosen clamp at air cleaner assembly and throttle body assembly.
2. Remove attachment bolts from outlet resonator/duct assembly.
3. Remove outlet resonator/duct assembly.




4. Remove resonator outlet duct assembly bracket from manifold.




5. Remove intake manifold cover bolts and cover.




6. Remove intake runner linkage cover.
7. Remove runner linkage bolt to intake manifold.




8. Remove upper runner shaft bolts to intake manifold (arrow).
9. Remove runner shaft/linkage and diaphragms and assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Install shaft assembly into intake manifold.
2. Position shaft seal into correct location.
3. Install runner shaft bolts to intake manifold.

Torque:
Runner Shaft-to-Intake Manifold Bolts - 6-Cyl: 2 N.m (18 in. lbs.)




4. Install runner shaft linkage to intake manifold bolt.

Torque:
Intake Runner Shaft Linkage-to-Intake Manifold - 6-Cyl: 4.4 N.m (39 in. lbs.)




5. If top cover gasket is damaged, top cover assembly is replaced.




6. Install sleeve seals to intake manifold top cover.
7. Install top cover into position and tighten upper intake manifold bolts.

Torque:
Intake Manifold Top Cover-to-Manifold Bolts - 6-Cyl: 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.)




8. Install outlet resonator duct assembly bracket to intake manifold.

Torque:
Outlet Resonator Duct Assembly Bracket-to-Intake Manifold Nuts - 6-Cyl: 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.)




9. Install outlet resonator duct assembly into position.
10. Tighten clamp at throttle body assembly.
11. Position outlet resonator duct assembly to support bracket and install bolts.

Torque:
Outlet Resonator/Duct Assembly-to-Support Bracket Bolts - 6-Cyl: 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.)

12. Tighten clamp at air cleaner assembly.
