Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement - Rear
REMOVAL (REAR)CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
NOTICE: Excessive flexing of exhaust pipe may damage the flex coupling. Limit flexing to 12 degrees.
1. Hoist vehicle
NOTICE: Do not apply silicon products to the oxygen sensor.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from oxygen sensor.
3. Remove exhaust pipe flange to rear exhaust manifold nuts (3).
4. Remove exhaust pipe flange to intermediate pipe nuts
5. Separate hanger from rubber isolator.
6. Separate flange from studs, and remove rear exhaust pipe.
7. Remove oxygen sensors if transferring to new exhaust pipes.
INSTALLATION (REAR)
1. Position pipe into vehicle - front and rear flanges and install new gasket onto manifold studs.
2. Assemble exhaust pipe to manifold and install new nuts and hand tighten only.
3. Install new gasket onto exhaust pipe rear flange.
4. Assemble front pipe to rear pipe, install nuts and tighten.
Torque:
Front Pipe-to-Rear Pipe Nuts - L81: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
5. Tighten front pipe to manifold nuts.
Torque:
Front Pipe-to-Manifold Nuts - L81: 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Use a nickel based anti-seize compound on threads of sensor. Never use silicone products, as damage may occur.
6. Install oxygen sensor and tighten, connect electrical connector.
Torque:
Oxygen Sensor L81: 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
