Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair
RECEIVER/DEHYDRATOR (RD)REMOVAL
IMPORTANT: Verifying the polity of the refrigerant with a refrigerant purity identifier before recovery is recommended.
1. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the amount of oil lost during recovery and record.
2. Remove left headlamp assembly.
3. Remove receiver/dehydrator (RD) to condenser nut. Back joint with large pair of pliers to prevent twisting while loosening.
4. Remove receiver/dehydrator (RD) to liquid line nut. Back joint with large pair of pliers to prevent twisting while loosening.
5. Remove receiver/dehydrator (RD) bracket to body bolt.
6. Remove receiver/dehydrator (RD) and cap condenser and liquid line to prevent contamination from entering the system.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washers.
IMPORTANT: Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks.
1. Remove protective caps from RD and liquid line and condenser.
2. Install new seal washers and RD.
3. Install RD to liquid line and install nut. Back joint with large pair of pliers to prevent twisting while tightening.
Torque:
Seal Washer - Liquid Line to Receiver/Dehydrator: 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)
4. Install RD to condenser and install nut. Back joint with large pair of pliers to prevent twisting while tightening.
Torque:
Seal Washer - Receiver/Dehydrator to Condenser: 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)
5. Install tab of RD bracket in corresponding slot in body and install RD bracket to body with bolt.
Torque:
RD Bracket to Body: 10 N.m (88 in. lbs.)
6. Evacuate, charge, and leak test A/C system.
7. Install left headlamp.
