Air Induction System

Air Induction System - L81:

Outside air is drawn into the air induction system through the inlet resonator/duct assembly located behind headlamp/front fascia. Air is then directed into the air cleaner assembly. The air filter is mounted inside the air box assembly, which is located on the right hand side of the engine compartment. After the air is cleaned through the air filter, it is then routed to the throttle body assembly through the outlet resonator/duct assembly which contains the Intake Air Temperature (IAT)/Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor. The air will then how through the throttle body assembly into the intake manifold. Once air is in the manifold, it can be directed straight into the cylinder head/combustion chamber or if commanded by the Engine Control Module (ECM), the intake manifold switchover solenoid will mechanically close the runner shafts directing the air flow through the longer intake runner to the cylinder head/combustion chamber.
