Trailing Arm Replacement

TRAILING ARM

REMOVAL

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON THE HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE OPPOSITE FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.





2. Remove bracket to underbody bolts.
3. Remove bushing mounting bolt.





4. Remove park brake cable clip from arm.





5. Remove trailing arm to knuckle fasteners.
6. Remove trailing arm.

INSTALLATION





1. Position trailing arm to vehicle, install bolts at knuckle and tighten.
Torque:
Trailing Arm-to-Knuckle Bolt: 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.)
2. Position bracket to trailing arm bushing.
3. Install bushing bolt and loosely tighten nut.





4. Push upward on trailing arm, and install front bolt. Use drift to help align rear holes, install bolts and tighten.
Torque:
Trailing Arm Bracket-to-Body Bolts: 110 N.m (81 ft. lbs.)

IMPORTANT: There are two different trailing arms and trailing arm bolts used on this vehicle. You must identify which is on the vehicle and use the corresponding torque value.

5. Tighten the trailing arm bushing-to-bracket bolt:
Torque:
If the bolt is a M12 bolt, tighten the bolt to 110 N.m (81 ft. lbs.)
If the bolt is a M14 bolt, tighten the bolt to 160 N.m (118 ft.





6. Install park brake bracket to trailing arm and tighten.
Torque:
Park Brake Bracket-to-Trailing Arm: 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.)

7. Lower vehicle.
