Park Lock Cable Assembly Operation Inspection

1. Set parking brake.
2. With ignition key removed from ignition lock cylinder and control shift lever in the P (Park) position, depress control shift lever button and attempt to move control shift lever out of P (Park) position.
^ If control shift lever can be shifted out of P (Park) position. Refer to "Park Lock Cable Assembly" procedure.
^ If control shift lever cannot be shifted out of P (Park) position, proceed to next step.
3. Insert ignition key into ignition lock cylinder assembly and turn to RUN position.
4. Depress brake pedal and depress control shift lever button and move control shift lever out of P (Park) position.
5. Release brake pedal. With control shift lever out of P (Park) position, attempt to turn ignition to LOCK position. (Make sure ignition key is pushed inward toward steering column when it is rotated toward LOCK position).
^ If ignition key can be turned to LOCK position with control shift lever out of P (Park) position. Refer to "Park Lock Cable Assembly" procedure.
^ If ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK position with control shift lever out of P (Park) position, park lock cable assembly is properly adjusted. Proceed to next step.
6. Depress control shift lever button. Move control shift lever to P (Park) position.
7. Turn ignition key to ON position and then to OFF position.
8. Make sure ignition key is removable.
^ If ignition key can be removed from ignition lock cylinder assembly, proceed to next step.
^ If ignition key cannot be removed from ignition lock cylinder assembly. Refer to "Park Lock Cable Assembly" procedure.
9. Turn ignition key to LOCK position.
10. Remove ignition key from ignition lock cylinder assembly.
