12. Direct Clutch Piston Travel Check
DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON TRAVEL CHECK^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 45166 8" Dial Indicator Extension Rod
1. Install forward and direct clutch housing and input shaft assembly onto rear case.
2. Remove inner bolt from forward clutch housing accumulator assembly. Install 8" Dial Indicator Extension Rod J45166 (2) in place of removed bolt.
3. Assemble Dial Indicator Set J45200 (3) and 8" Dial Indicator Extension Rod J45166 (2) onto rear case and set dial indicator J45200.
CAUTION: WHEN COMPRESSED AIR IS USED IN ORDER TO CLEAR FLUID PASSAGES AND TO DRY PARTS, ALWAYS AIM AIR PRESSURE AWAY FROM FACE AND EYES. ALWAYS WEAR ADEQUATE EYE PROTECTION IN ORDER TO AVOID INJURY FROM DIRT AND DEBRIS THAT MAY ADHERE TO PARTS.
4. Check piston travel, cover forward clutch accumulator housing (1) with a shop rag to prevent oil from spraying out the top of accumulator housing when compressed air is applied to passage.
5. Apply compressed air in order to measure direct clutch piston stroke.
6. If direct clutch piston stroke is not within specifications, select another backing plate.
