17. 1 - 2 Reverse Clutch Assemble

1 - 2 REVERSE CLUTCH ASSEMBLE





IMPORTANT: be careful not to damage O-rings.

1. Apply transaxle fluid to new O-rings.
2. Install new 1-2 reverse clutch piston inner seal (602) and 1-2 reverse clutch piston outer seal (602) onto 1-2 reverse clutch piston (603).
3. Apply transaxle fluid to inner surface of rear case.
4. Hand press 1-2 reverse clutch piston (603) into case cover.





IMPORTANT: Be careful not to bend return spring assembly.

5. Place 1-2 reverse clutch piston return spring assembly onto 1-2 reverse clutch piston, indexing springs into holes inside 1-2 reverse clutch piston assembly.





6. Place J45185 on center of J23456.
7. Place case cover with 1-2 reverse clutch piston assembly onto J45184.
8. Using J23327-1, which is the bridge part of J23327 to compress the piston return spring (601).
9. Install retaining ring (600) using J28585.
10. Remove pressure from J23456 and remove all tools.





IMPORTANT: Check position and direction of 1-2 reverse clutch apply plate (618) before installation.

11. Install 1-2 reverse clutch apply plate (618).

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the correct number of plates. Make sure plates are in the correct order.

12. Install steel plates (619) and fiber plates (620).
13. Install 1-2 reverse clutch backing plate (621).

IMPORTANT: Check position of retaining ring (622) before installation.

14. Install 1-2 reverse clutch backing plate retaining ring (622) into groove indicated.
