Installation

FRONT WHEEL DRIVE (FWD) FRONT DRIVE AXLE - RIGHT SIDE (INSTALLATION)

- J44015 Tie Rod Installer

INSTALLATION





1. Install new intermediate shaft out-board retaining ring.
2. Ensure O-ring seal is seated in place as shown in illustration.

NOTICE: When installing axle into transaxle/PTU. Use care not to contact the oil seal with the axle shaft splines. Damage mall occur to the seal.

3. Install chive axle to intermediate shaft ensure drive axle is fully seated.

NOTICE: Use care not to damage boots or seals.





4. Insert outer end of axle into knuckle.





5. Install lower control arm ball stud to knuckle.
6. Tighten nut one additional flat to align cotter pin hole. Secure cotter pin.
Torque:
Lower Control Arm Ball Stud-to-Knuckle Nut: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)+ 150°

NOTICE: Do not allow stud to rotate, secure link stud with wrench to install nut.





7. Install new right side lower stabilizer bar link nut and tighten.
Torque:
Right Side Lower Stabilizer Bar Link Nut: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)





8. Insert tie rod to knuckle and install Tie Rod Installer J44015.
Torque:
Tie Rod-to-Knuckle Tool: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Do not allow stud to rotate while tightening nut. Damage may occur to seal.





9. Remove Tie rod Installer J44015 and install new tie rod to knuckle nut.
Torque:
Tie Rod-to-Knuckle Nut: 50 NM (37 ft. lbs.)
10. Install wheel and tire.





11. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a criss-cross pattern.
Torque:
Wheel Nuts: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)





12. Install new front axle to knuckle nut and tighten.
Torque:
Front Axle-to-Knuckle Nut: 205 Nm (151 ft. lbs.)
13. Lower vehicle.
14. Check alignment and align as necessary.
