Rear Door Latch: Service and Repair
Latch Replacement - Rear Door
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door Service and Repair
2. Pull back the rear portion of the rear door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair).
3. Partially remove the rear door window weatherstrip from the rear of the door. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (New Style) (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (New Style))Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Old Style) (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Old Style)).
4. Remove the rear window run channel. Refer to Window Run Channel Replacement - Rear Door (Door Window Channel).
5. Run the window to the 3/4 up position.
6. Remove the screws from latch mechanism.
7. Remove the latch mechanism from the rear door.
8. Disconnect the power door lock electrical connector.
9. Remove the 2 lock rods from the latch mechanism
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power door lock electrical connector and 2 lock rods to the latch mechanism.
2. Position the latch mechanism to the door.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the screws to the latch mechanism.
4. Tighten the top screw first, the bottom screw second, and the middle screw last.
Tighten screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
5. Install the rear door window run channel. Refer to Window Run Channel Replacement - Rear Door (Door Window Channel).
6. Install the rear door window weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (New Style) (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (New Style))Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Old Style) (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Old Style)).
7. Install the rear door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair).
8. Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door Service and Repair
