Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair

RECEIVER DEHYDRATOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center
- J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the condenser.




2. Remove the receiver dehydrator line fitting bolts.




3. Loosen the receiver dehydrator clamp bolt and remove receiver dehydrator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. If replacing the receiver dehydrator add the appropriate amount of PAG oil to the system. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities for capacity information.
2. Install the receiver dehydrator into the clamp but do not tighten.
3. Install new O-rings.
4. Install the line block fittings to the receiver dehydrator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions




5. Install the line block fittings to the receiver dehydrator bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

6. Tighten the receiver dehydrator clamp bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

7. Install the condenser.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Using the J 39400-A leak test the fittings of the component.
