126. Park Neutral Position Switch Installation

Park Neutral Position Switch Installation





1. Using an adjustable wrench, turn the manual shift shaft lever (932) clockwise until the transaxle is in the PARK position.
2. Once in the PARK position, rotate the manual shift shaft lever (932) counter-clockwise 2 clicks. The transaxle should now be in the NEUTRAL position.





3. Place the internal part of the park neutral position switch (42) to the NEUTRAL position.
The park neutral position switch will click in the NEUTRAL position, and the control shaft hole (1) will align with the positioning line (2) as shown in the insert.





4. Carefully install the park neutral position switch (42) through the manual shift shaft (932).
5. Once the park neutral position switch (42) is positioned on the mounting posts located on the transmission case housing (31), install 2 M6 x 1.0 x 16mm park neutral flanged bolt/screws (44) finger tight into the transmission case housing (31).





6. Install a NEW park neutral position switch shaft washer (43) over the manual shift shaft (932).
7. Align the projection/indicator point (1) of the park neutral position switch shaft washer (43) with the positioning line (2) on the park neutral position switch (42).
8. Install the park neutral position switch shaft locknut (46) on the manual shift shaft (932) and hand tighten.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

9. While holding the exposed section of the manual shift shaft (932) with an open end wrench, use another open end wrench to tighten the park neutral position switch shaft locknut (46) to specification.
- Tighten the locknut to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
10. Bend a tab of the park neutral position switch shaft washer (43) up against the park neutral position switch shaft locknut (46).
11. Verify that the park neutral position switch (42) is still aligned with the indicator pointer (43). If not reposition the park neutral position switch (42) and then tighten the 2 mount flanged mount bolts (44).
- Tighten the flanged mount bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).





12. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever (45) to the manual shift shaft (932).
13. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever spring washer (48) to the manual shift shaft (932).
14. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever lock tab washer (47) to the manual shift shaft (932).
15. Install the automatic transmission range selector retainer nut (49) to the manual shift shaft (932) and tighten.
- Tighten the flanged mount bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
16. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever cover (63) using an automatic transmission range selector lever cover M6 x 1.0 x 16 mm flanged bolt/screw (64) and tighten.
- Tighten the flanged mount bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
