Exhaust Muffler Heat Shield Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.





2. Remove the muffler to exhaust resonator pipe attachment clamp.





3. Separate the muffler from the exhaust resonator pipe.
4. Remove the muffler to body insulators.
5. Remove the muffler from the vehicle.





6. Remove the muffler heat shield nuts.
7. Remove the heat shield from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Position the heat shield into the vehicle and tighten the nuts.
^ Tighten the heat shield-to-body nuts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).





2. Position the muffler onto the exhaust resonator pipe and install the isolators.





3. Install the exhaust resonator pipe to muffler clamp and tighten.
4. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
5. Check the exhaust system for leaks.
