Scan Tool Data Definitions (Cruise Control)

Scan Tool Data Definitions (Cruise Control)

The Scan Tool Data Definitions contains a brief description of all cruise control related parameters that are available on the scan tool. An engine control module (ECM) is used on a vehicle that is equipped with a 2.2 L and 2.4 L engine and a powertrain control module (PCM) is used on a vehicle that is equipped with a 3.5 L engine.

BPP Circuit Signal
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. The status of the BBP circuit as monitored by the ECM.

BPP Signal
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. The status of the BPP signal as monitored by the ECM.

Brake Switch
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. The ECM/PCM monitors the signal circuit of the stop lamp switch. An open switch is displayed as Released.

CPP Switch (If Equipped)
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. The status of the CPP switch as monitored by the ECM.

Cruise Brake Switch
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. The ECM/PCM monitors the signal circuit of the cruise/brake switch. An open switch is displayed as Applied.

Cruise Disengage (1-8) History
- The scan tool displays the last 8 reasons why the cruise control system was disengaged. Refer to the Scan Tool Data Definitions (Disengage History) for descriptions.

Cruise Engaged
- The scan tool displays Yes or No. The ECM/PCM determines the current status of cruise control operation. An active cruise control system is displayed as Yes.

Cruise On/Off Switch
- The scan tool displays On or Off. This is the state of the cruise control On/Off switch as detected by the ECM. An active switch is displayed as On.

Cruise Resume/Accel
- The scan tool displays On or Off. The ECM/PCM monitors the signal circuit of the Resume/Accel. switch of the cruise control system. A closed switch is displayed as On. The cruise On/Off switch must be switched On in order to correctly view the Cruise Resume/Accel parameter.

Cruise Resume/Accel. Switch
- The scan tool displays Active, Inactive, or Invalid. This is the state of the resume/accel switch as detected by the ECM. An active cruise resume/accel switch is displayed as Active.

Cruise Set/Coast
- The scan tool displays On or Off. The ECM/PCM monitors the signal circuit of the Set/Coast switch of the cruise control system. A closed switch is displayed as On. The cruise On/Off switch must be switched On in order to correctly view the Cruise Set/Coast parameter.

Cruise Set/Coast Switch
- The scan tool displays Active, Inactive, or Invalid. This is the state of the cruise set switch as detected by the ECM. An active cruise set switch is displayed as Active. The cruise control On/Off switch must be On in order to view the parameter correctly.

Cruise Switch
- The scan tool displays On or Off. The ECM/PCM monitors the signal circuit of the On/Off switch of the cruise control system. A closed switch is displayed as On.

Engine Speed
- The scan tool displays 0 to 9999 RPM. This is the engine RPM as monitored by the ECM/PCM. The ECM/PCM monitors the crankshaft position (CKP) signal circuit in order to determine the engine RPM.

Ignition 1
- The scan tool displays 6 to 18 Volts. The ECM/PCM monitors the ignition 1 signal circuit in order to determine the system voltage.

Ignition 1 Signal
- The scan tool displays 0 to 25.5 Volts. The ECM monitors the voltage of the ignition 1 voltage circuit.

TCC/Cruise Brake Pedal Switch
- The scan tool displays Applied or Released. This is the state of the TCC/cruise brake pedal switch as detected by the ECM.

Vehicle Speed
- The scan tool displays 0 to 255 km/h (158 mph). The ECM/PCM monitors the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit in order to calculate the vehicle speed.

Vehicle Speed Sensor
- The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The ECM monitors the vehicle speed sensor signal in order to calculate the vehicle speed for display.
