Multifunction Turn Signal Switch Housing Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the steering column trim covers.
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the SIR coil.




5. Disconnect the electrical connector and depress the locking tabs to remove the turn signal multifunction switch.




6. Disconnect the electrical connector and depress the locking tabs to remove the wipers/washer switch.
7. Disconnect the ignition housing electrical connectors.

Important: Support the ignition housing prior to removal of the multifunction housing to ignition housing bolts.




8. Remove the 2 multifunction housing to ignition housing bolts.




9. Slide the multifunction lever bracket from the steering column.

Installation Procedure




1. Slide the multifunction housing onto the steering column.





Important: Ensure that the lock tab fully engages into the steering column slot.

2. Assemble the lock housing and multifunction housing. Hand-tighten the bolts, leaving approximately 3.2 mm (0.125 in) gap at the bolt ends.
3. Hand-tighten the lower bolt until snug.
4. Hand-tighten the upper bolt until snug.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Tighten the lower bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in)

6. Tighten the upper bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in)

7. Connect the ignition housing electrical connectors.

Important: Make sure that the locking tabs are properly seated.




8. Install the wipers/washer switch to the multifunction housing and connect the electrical connector.

Important: Make sure that the locking tabs are properly seated.




9. Install the turn signal multifunction switch and connect the electrical connector.
10. Install the SIR coil.
11. Install the steering wheel.
12. Install the steering column trim covers.
13. Enable the SIR system.
