Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool
1. Place the park brake lever in the fully released position.
2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Using ONLY hand tools, loosen the adjusting nut (1) completely to the end of the front cable threaded rod.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
7. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (1) or the right rear park brake cable (2) from the front park brake cable equalizer.
8. Remove the park brake cable bracket bolt (1).
9. Remove the park brake cable bracket bolt (1) and nut (2).
10. Disconnect the park brake cable eyelet (1) from the park brake actuator.
11. Compress the park brake cable conduit spring.
12. Using the J 37043 , remove the park brake cable (2) from the mounting bracket.
13. Remove the park brake cable.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the park brake cable eyelet (1) from the park brake actuator.
2. Compress the park brake cable conduit spring.
3. Install the park brake cable (2) to the mounting bracket.
Ensure the locking tabs on the park brake cable conduit are fully deployed.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
4. Install the park brake cable bracket bolt (1) and nut (2).
Tighten the bolt and nut to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
5. Install the park brake cable bracket bolt (1).
Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
6. Connect the left rear park brake cable (1) or the right rear park brake cable (2) to the park brake cable equalizer.
7. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Adjustments) .
8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
