Battery Positive Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the electronic control module bracket retaining nuts (1) and bolts (2).
3. Disconnect the positive battery junction block assembly from the bracket.
4. Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut (1) and secure the battery positive cable (2) out of the way.
5. Remove the generator control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement)
6. Remove the following components from the generator control module.
* Fusible link nut (1)
* Fusible link bolt (2)
7. Remove the fusible link cable from the generator control module.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
9. Disconnect the positive cable (1) from the starter.
10. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: Route the positive battery cable the same way as originally installed.
1. Install the positive battery cable to the vehicle and position accordingly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
2. Install the positive battery cable (1) to the starter solenoid BAT stud.
Tighten the nut (4) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Position the fusible link cable to the generator control module.
5. Install the following components to the generator control module.
* Fusible link nut (1)
* Fusible link bolt (2)
Tighten the nuts and bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the generator control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement) .
7. Install the positive battery cable to the battery.
Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (45 lb in).
8. Install the electronic control module bracket retaining nuts (1) and bolts (2).
Tighten the nuts and bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
9. Connect the positive battery junction block assembly to the bracket.
10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair) .
