Battery Replacement (With LAT-2.4L)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing serious personal injury.


1. Remove the generator battery control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement) .
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair) .




3. Remove the ECM bracket bolts (2), nuts (1) and ECM bracket.
4. Set the ECM assembly aside.




5. Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut (1) and secure the battery positive cable (2) out of the way.




6. Remove the battery hold down nuts (1) and the battery hold down retainer bracket (2).
7. Remove the battery from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

Caution: Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing serious personal injury.






1. Install the battery to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the battery hold down nuts (1) and the battery hold down retainer bracket (2).

Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





3. Install the positive battery cable terminal nut (1).

Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (45 lb in).





4. Install the ECM bracket, bolts (2) and nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts and bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With LAT-2.4L) (Service and Repair).
6. Install the generator battery control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement) .
