TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 08-06-04-015

Date: March 04, 2008

Subject:
Underhood Chirp, Squeak, Rattle, Drive Belt Type Noise (Replace Air Induction Bracket Mounting Nuts and Add Washers)

Models:
2008 Saturn VUE

with 2.4L Engine (VINs P, Z - RPOs LE5, LAT)

Condition

Some customers may comment on an underhood chirp, squeak or rattle noise. This noise is worse at idle or with the air conditioning running. This noise could easily be confused for an accessory drive belt type noise.

Cause

This condition may be caused by loss of torque to the air induction system mounting bracket at the rear edge of the cylinder head.

Correction

Technicians are to replace the air induction mounting bracket nuts with washers and torque-prevailing nuts.

1. Remove the two 13 mm nuts (see figure above).

2. Install the two new washers and torque-prevailing nuts.

Tighten

Tighten the two nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
