Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the left bank spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement (Service and Repair)
2. Reposition ignition coil wire harness aside.




3. Remove the left camshaft cover bolts.
4. Remove the left camshaft cover from the left cylinder head.
5. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Cleaning and Inspection ()




6. Install the EN 46101

Installation Procedure




1. Install new camshaft cover bolt grommets prior to installing the camshaft cover bolts.




2. Place a bead 8 mm (0.3150 in) in diameter by 4 mm (0.1575 in) in height of RTV sealant, GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent, on the engine front cover split lines (1).




3. Place the left camshaft cover into position onto the left cylinder head.




4. Loosely install the left camshaft cover bolts.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

5. Tighten the left camshaft cover bolts in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




6. Remove the EN 46101
7. Install NEW spark plugs into the left cylinder head. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement (Service and Repair)
