Battery Replacement (HP7)

Removal Procedure

Warning

Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing serious personal injury.

1. Remove the generator battery control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP7) (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the ECM bracket bolts (2), nuts (1) and ECM bracket.
4. Set the ECM assembly aside.




5. Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut (1) and secure the battery positive cable (2) out of the way.




6. Remove the battery hold down nuts (1) and the battery hold down retainer bracket (2).
7. Remove the battery from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Caution: Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing serious personal injury.




1. Install the battery to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the battery hold down nuts (1) and the battery hold down retainer bracket (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




3. Install the positive battery cable terminal nut (1) and tighten to 5 Nm (45 lb in).




4. Install the ECM bracket, bolts (2) and nuts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP7) (Service and Repair).
6. Install the generator battery control module cover. Refer to Generator Control Module Cover Replacement (Generator Control Module Cover Replacement).
