Cooling Fan Description and Operation
Cooling Fan Description and Operation (LCS) (3.6L Hybrid)
Cooling Fan Control
The cooling fan system contains two cooling fans and a cooling fan control module (CFCM). The engine control module (ECM) commands the cooling fans ON in a range of 0 to 100 percent, depending on the engine, transmission power inverter module (TPIM), transmission, and A/C cooling requirements. The ECM controls the cooling fan speed by commanding the CFCM. The ECM sends a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal voltage to the CFCM. The cooling fan control module interprets the signal and operates the cooling fans at the commanded speed. The CFCM supplies the power and ground circuits for both cooling fans. The cooling fan control module receives power from a J style 60 amp fuse in the underhood auxiliary fuse block, and is grounded at G107. A condition with ECM controlled fan circuit, the fused supply voltage circuit, or CFCM ground circuit will set a DTC.
