Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




2. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1) from the VSS.
3. Remove the VSS electrical harness retainer (2) from the VSS.




4. Remove the retaining stud and the VSS. Pull straight out in order to avoid damage to the case.

Installation Procedure

1. Clean and dry the VSS.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the VSS and the retaining stud to 12 Nm (97 lb in).




3. Install the VSS electrical harness retainer (2) to the VSS.
4. Install the electrical connector (1) to the VSS.
5. Lower the vehicle.
