SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR WINDOW CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE REAR WINDOW CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:
When storing the rear window curtain shield airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, release the locking button.

(d) Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, detach the airbag connector.

(e) Remove the 3 clips.

(1) Using a clip remover, remove the pin.

(2) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the clip and rear window curtain shield airbag assembly from the body as shown in the illustration.

(f) Remove the 2 bolts and rear window curtain shield airbag assembly.





(g) Remove the 3 clips and 3 spacers from the rear window curtain shield airbag assembly.

NOTICE:
If clips and spacers are removed, always replace them with new ones even though they may not appear to be damaged.
