INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
* When replacing the transponder key ECU assembly, refer to Registration.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Engine Immobilizer System (W/O Smart Key System).
OK:
DTC is not output.
NG -- Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART Engine Immobilizer System (W/O Smart Key System)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT)
(a) Check that the clock assembly (security indicator light) illuminates when operating it with the Active Test Engine Immobilizer System (W/O Smart Key System).
Immobilizer
OK:
Clock assembly (security indicator light) can be turned on and off using the Techstream.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT - TRANSPONDER KEY ECU AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM STATUS)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
HINT
When using the Techstream with the ignition switch off to troubleshoot: Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at 1.5-second intervals until communication between the Techstream and vehicle begins.
(b) Using the Techstream, read the Data List Engine Immobilizer System (W/O Smart Key System).
Immobilizer
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT - TRANSPONDER KEY ECU AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the C16 clock assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the C39 transponder key ECU assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. REPLACE CLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily replace the clock assembly with a new or normally functioning one Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK CLOCK ASSEMBLY (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT)
(a) When the immobilizer is set (the ignition switch is off), check that the clock assembly (security indicator light) blinks.
OK:
Clock assembly (security indicator light) blinks.
NG -- REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- END (CLOCK ASSEMBLY [SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT] IS DEFECTIVE)
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the C39 transponder key ECU assembly connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
