DESCRIPTION

The key reminder warning buzzer sounds when the driver side door is opened while the ignition switch is ACC or off and the key is in the ignition key cylinder. The key reminder warning buzzer is activated when the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) sends an unlock warning switch assembly signal and front door courtesy light switch assembly LH signal to the combination meter assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT
Since the key reminder warning system has functions that use CAN communication, first confirm that there is no malfunction in the communication system by inspecting CAN communication in accordance with the "How to Proceed with Troubleshooting" procedures. Then, conduct the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Main Body





OK:

On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

NG -- Go to LIGHTING SYSTEM (Proceed to Door Courtesy Switch Circuit) Door Courtesy Switch Circuit
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Main Body





OK:

On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

NG -- INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) Removal

3. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the unlock warning switch assembly Removal.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the C6 unlock warning switch assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the C56 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter assembly with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK KEY REMINDER FUNCTION

(a) Check the key reminder warning system Operation Check.

OK:

The key reminder warning system functions properly.

NG -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) Removal

OK -- END (COMBINATION METER IS DEFECTIVE)
