DESCRIPTION
The occupant classification ECU detects the state of the front seat inner belt RH when the front passenger seat is occupied with the ignition switch ON. The occupant classification ECU transmits the front passenger seat belt state signal to the combination meter. If the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, the combination meter blinks the front seat belt warning light on the telltale light. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTCs.
Result:
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Diagnosis System
C -- GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM Airbag System
D -- GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Occupant Classification System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG NO. 2)
(a) Remove the ECU-IG NO. 2 fuse from the main body ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".
Combination Meter
OK:
Passenger seat belt warning light condition can be switched by Active Test.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT - COMBINATION METER)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Temporarily replace the front seat inner belt RH with a new or correctly functioning one Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the passenger seat belt warning light function Operation Check.
OK:
Passenger seat belt warning light operates normally.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER Removal
OK -- END (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT RH IS DEFECTIVE)
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT - COMBINATION METER)
(a) Disconnect the C42 telltale light connector.
(b) Disconnect the C36 combination meter connector.
(c) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
Standard voltage
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the telltale light Removal.
(b) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 4 (B), and the negative (-) battery lead to terminals 3 (L) and 2 (E).
(c) Check that the seat belt warning light (for passenger side) comes on.
OK:
Seat belt warning light (for passenger side) comes on.
NG -- REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER Removal
