SUBARU RECALL FWP-25
FRONT WIRING HARNESS PROTECTIVE COVERING INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Each owner will be mailed a parts kit (as described below) and is instructed to present the parts kit to the dealer for installation.

When installing the protective covering on the front wiring harness, follow the instructions listed below:

REQUIRED TOOLS
a. 10 mm combo wrench

NOTE:
Electrical tape will also be required (one roll provided to each dealership).

PROTECTIVE COVERING KIT CONSISTS OF:

QUANTITY DESCRIPTION

1 WIRE HARNESS PROTECTIVE COVER - (corrugated tube)
1 BATTERY HOLD DOWN ROD COVER - (vinyl tube)
2 TIE-WRAPS





NOTE:
Please inspect the front wiring harness close to the battery hold down rod for any damage before the covers are installed. Repair the inner harness if the insulation is chaffed. However, if any of the copper conductor wires is exposed, replace the front wiring harness according to the applicable Subaru Service Manual.

The applicable wiring harness should be ordered through normal parts channels.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.

2. Remove the battery hold down by removing the two nuts.

3. For ease of working, move the battery slightly toward the engine.





4. Take the harness out of the clip that is fitted on the wheel apron as shown in Figure 1.

5. Tape both ends of the corrugated tube to cover any sharp edges.

6. Install the wire harness cover over the wire harness with tube slit toward the fender.

7. Secure the harness cover with tie-wraps supplied in kit.

8. Cut off excess tie-wraps.

9. Place the wiring harness back into the clip that is found on the wheel apron.

10. Install the vinyl tube on the battery hold down rod next to wiring harness.





11. Shift the battery back to the original position and secure it with the battery hold down shown in Figure 2.

NOTE:
Tighten battery hold down nuts gradually and evenly to 2.2 ft.lbs.

12. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

FLAT RATE TIME FOR THIS OPERATION IS 0.2 HOURS.
