Preliminary Checks


Before troubleshooting system, check for proper connection of hoses and connectors and check parts and wiring for damage. Be sure ignition switch is off before replacing any parts.
When checking electrical connectors, insert tester probes from harness side of check connector. When following troubleshooting chart tests, inspect connectors while connected unless otherwise specified. When performing a check with vacuum switch hose disconnected and engine running, be sure to plug vacuum hose.
The following abbreviations are used in the troubleshooting charts:
C-W carb- Carter-Weber 1-bbl carburetor
ECS- Electronic Control System
E/G- Engine
ll-carb- Hitachi 2bbl carburetor
H/A mode- High Altitude mode
IG- ignition
S/L mode- sea level mode
ECC-Electronically controlled carburetor
