Clutch Freeplay

Fig. 1 Clutch pedal adjustments:

1. Remove clutch fork return spring.
2. Turn adjusting nut to obtain an end play of .08-.12 inch (2-3 mm) on 2 wheel drive non-turbo models, or .12-.16 inch (3-4 mm) on 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive models with turbo, at fork end, Fig. 1. When performing adjustment, use care not to twist clutch cable.
3. Check to ensure clutch release lever full stroke measures 1.004-1.063 inch (25.5-27.0 mm) on 1985-88 4 wheel drive models and 1986-88 2 wheel drive turbo models, or .67-.71 inch (17-18 mm) on all other models.
