Distributor Advance Unit: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove distributor cap and spark plug wires.
2. Apply vacuum to vacuum controller. The controller should hold vacuum and the breaker plate should rotate. If either of these conditions are not met, repair or replace necessary parts.
3. Check for any binding or sticking of the centrifugal advance mechanism by twisting the ignition rotor the opposite way of rotation. If actual distributor advance needs to be checked, refer to Tune-Up Specifications.
