Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the hose from the valve.
2. Remove the valve in the CCW direction.

INSTALLATION
1. Reinstall the valve and tighten to specification.

TORQUE VALUE
14 - 19 ft.lbs (20 - 35 Nm)

2. Reconnect the hose.

If you receive a customer complaint of an SPFI vehicle emitting white smoke during sharp right turn driving conditions, the PCV modification kit P/N 11813AA010 should be installed as follows:

NOTE: This modification has been included in production since 4/91, starting with VIN M*209520 and M*417055.

Original Installation:






1. Make sure the repair kit contains these four parts: blue connector, black connector, plug, hose.
2. Remove and discard connector "A," connector "B," hose "C" and connector "D." Retain hose clamps for reuse.

Modification:






3. Install the modification parts as illustrated in image.

CAUTION: The blue and black connectors are not interchangeable. The blue connector contains an orifice.
