Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Inspection

Ignition Coil Testing:





1. Disconnect coil connector and remove coil from engine.
2. Measure resistance of coil primary and secondary windings as follows:

Primary
All Transmissions (Diamond & Hitachi Coils)
Terminal (Connector E10) Resistance
1 - 2 0.62 - 0.77 Ohms
2 - 3 0.62 - 0.77 Ohms


Secondary
Manual Transmission (Diamond)
Terminal Resistance
1 - 2 17.9 - 24.5K Ohms
3 - 4 17.9 - 24.5K Ohms

Automatic Transmission (Hitachi)
Terminal Resistance
1 - 2 10.4 - 15.6K Ohms
3 - 4 10.4 - 15.6K Ohms
