Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Warm the engine to operating temperature. This will aid in the removal of the sensor.

CAUTION: Exhaust components are extremely hot. Use gloves and other protective clothing when working near the exhaust.

2. Remove air intake duct.

O2 Sensor Connector:





3. Disconnect sensor electrical connector.
4. Raise the vehicle to allow access to underside.
5. Spray the base of the sensor with penetrating fluid.

O2 Sensor:





6. Remove the sensor.

NOTE: When removing the sensor, do not force, especially if the exhaust is cool. Damage may occur to the sensor and exhaust.

INSTALLATION

O2 Sensor Threads:





1. Apply a light coating of anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor.

NOTE: Do not apply compound to the louvered (protector) area of the sensor.

2. Install in reverse order. Tighten sensor to 41 - 47 Nm (30 - 35 ft lb).
