Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

MEASURE SIGNAL VOLTAGE FROM TCM

Measure Voltage Output From TCM:

1. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.

CAUTION: On AWD models, raise all wheels off ground.

2. Warm up engine and transmission.
3. Move shift lever to "D" and slowly increase vehicle speed to 37 mph (60 km/h). Measure voltage output from TCM.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B52) 7 - 13 0 Ohms
(B52) 11 - body 8.5Volts minimum (when wheels are locked up)

4. Return engine to idle speed. Move shift lever to "N" and measure voltage output from TCM.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B52) 7 - 13 0 Ohms
(B52) 11 - body 8.5Volts minimum

Select Monitor Function Mode F12
Condition: Start engine and increase vehicle speed to 37 mph (60 km/h). When wheels are locked up:
Specified data: LUDTY F12
95% (wheel locked up)
5% (release)

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTORS BETWEEN TCM AND DUTY SOLENOID B

Check Harness And Connectors Between TCM And Duty Solenoid B:

1. Unplug connector from TCM.
2. Unplug connector from transmission.
3. Measure resistance between TCM connector and transmission connector, and between TCM connector and body.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B52) 7 - (B9) 0 Ohms
(B52) 7 - body I M Ohm, minimum

CHECK DUTY SOLENOID B GROUND LINE

Check Duty Solenoid B Ground:

1. Unplug connector from transmission.
2. Measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle and transmission case.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(T4) 4 - transmission 1 Ohm, maximum

CHECK DUTY SOLENOID B

Check Duty Solenoid B:

1. Unplug connector from transmission.
2. Measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(T4) 4 - 6 10 - 17 Ohms
