When a CD is inserted in the player, the player disables the radio in the vehicle. When the CD is ejected, the player signals the radio to resume its function. The radio must be "on" to acknowledge the receipt of this signal. Therefore, if when you're finished listening to a CD, you turn off the radio before ejecting the CD, the radio will not function when turned back on again.
