Ignition Timing: Testing and Inspection
Special High Tension Wire:
Because a distributorless ignition system is utilized, ignition timing can be checked but cannot be adjusted. If out of specification, refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.
1. Remove #1 ignition coil.
2. Retro-fit a suitable spark plug wire as shown.
3. Connect the #1 ignition coil and spark plug with the Retro-fitted wire. Connect a timing light to the wire.
4. Warm up engine.
5. Confirm that throttle sensor idle switch is "ON."
6. Check with transmission in neutral or park.
Ignition Timing (BTDC):
Manual Transmission: 20° ± 8°/610 rpm
Automatic Transmission: 20° ± 8°/610 rpm
