Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve: Testing and Inspection
Positive Crankcase Ventilation System:
1. Check PCV hoses and connections for leaks and clogging. Hoses may be blown out with compressed air.
2. Check that oil filler cap gasket is in good condition and that cap fits securely on its seat.
3. To check PCV valve:
a. Disconnect hose from PCV valve.
b. Remove PCV valve and clean thoroughly; replace valve if it does not move smoothly.
c. Replace PCV valve in intake manifold without connecting hose.
d. Run engine at idle.
e. Place finger over hose end of PCV valve and check for vacuum; if no vacuum, replace PCV valve.
