Keyless Entry - Operating Improperly

NUMBER: 15-100-96
DATE 4/30/96

APPLICABILITY: ALL 1995 AND 1996 LEGACY

SUBJECT:
Keyless Entry Actuator Allen Block P # H7110AS130

If you receive a customer complaint of the Keyless Entry System not operating properly investigate the following: Ensure that the transmitters are signaling the Keyless entry control unit by watching the parking lights flash when the transmitter buttons are pressed. If there is no parking light reaction and you cannot hear the actuator cycling inside the door panel, check the transmitter battery voltage. (Duracell-type MN21, Gold Peak type GP-23a or equivalent). Also, inspect all fuses to the system, powers and grounds, vehicle battery connections and voltage level. If the parking lights react to each transmitter button signal and the sound of the actuator cycling in the drivers door is heard, a disconnected or loose Allen Block may be the source of the inoperative Keyless Entry situation. Locate the Actuator Allen Block by removing the door panel and peeling back the plastic curtain to expose the Keyless Entry Actuator. See Figure 2. If the linkage is disconnected and/or loose, order a new Allen Block part number H7110AS130 through normal parts channels. See Figure 1.

NOTE:
Normal locking and unlocking can be accomplished using the keys.

Ensure the Allen Block and the Actuator attaching rod are properly oriented before installing the new Allen Block. Compare against the original Allen Block and adjust as necessary.

This procedure can be claimed under the Subaru Basic Warranty by referring to the Subaru Warranty Labor Time Guide. See section "0".
