DTC P0506 IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM RPM LOWER THAN EXPECTED

1. OUTLINE OF DIAGNOSIS
Detect the malfunction that actual engine speed is not close to target engine speed during idling. Judge as NG when actual engine speed is not close to target engine speed during idling.





2. ENABLE CONDITION

3. GENERAL DRIVING CYCLE
After 10 seconds from engine starting perform diagnosis continuously at idling after warming up.

4. DIAGNOSTIC METHOD




Abnormality Judgment
Judge as NG when the continuous time of completing the malfunction criterion given is 10 seconds � 3 times.




Normality Judgment
Judge as OK and clear NG when the continuous time of completing the malfunction criterion given becomes more than the time needed for diagnosis (10 seconds).

5. DTC CLEAR CONDITION
- When the OK idling cycle is completed 40 times in a row
- When "Clear Memory" is performed

6. MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CLEAR CONDITION
- When the OK driving cycle is completed 3 times in a row
- When "Clear Memory" is performed

7. FAIL SAFE
- Judgment of heavy fuel: Not allowed to make the judgment of heavy fuel.
- Knock compensation:
- Knock compensation final advance/delay angle value = knock compensation value + whole learning compensation value + operational learning compensation value
- When normal: Knock compensation value = Fixed at 0 degrees CA
- Failure: Knock compensation value --> Fixed at 0 degrees CA (When knock: Max. 12 degrees CA retard)
- Whole learning compensation coefficient update not allowed
- Portional learning zone compensation value calculation not allowed

8. ECM OPERATION AT DTC SETTING
Memorize the freeze frame data. (For test mode $02)
