Removal and Installation Procedures

REMOVAL PROCEDURES

1. Disconnect battery negative cable from battery.

2. Disable air bag system referring to Section 10B-45 "Disabling The Air Bag System" in the 1999 Suzuki SQ416/SQ420 Service Manual, Volume 1 of 2. Part number 99500-65D00-33E.

3. Disconnect connectors from the ECM/PCM.

4. Remove the two (2)10 mm. hex head bolts which attach the ECM/PCM to the bottom of the ECM/PCM mounting tray.

5. Slide the ECM/PCM out from the mounting tray.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

1. Install appropriate replacement ECM/PCM to the ECM/PCM mounting tray. (See PARTS INFORMATION for correct application) using the two (2)10 mm. hex head bolts. Torque the bolts to 54 lb.in. (6 N.m)

3. Carefully and securely plug the connectors into the ECM/PCM.

4. Install ECM/PCM dust cover to bracket reusing the two (2) plastic push pin clips.

5. Enable air bag system referring to "Enabling Air Bag System" in Section 10B-45 of the previously listed service manual.

6. Connect negative cable to battery.

7. Affix a yellow sticker dot to the upper radiator core support above the right (passenger side) headlight.

7. Start engine and check for DTCs.

VEHICLES THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE CRANK BUT NO START CONDITION AT 5°F OR COLDER TEMPERATURES ONLY.

1. Replace all spark plugs with NGK plugs, p/n 09482-00494.
