DTC Check
DTC CheckNOTE:
- Refer to SUZUKI scan tool operator's manual for details.
- If B1504 or B1505 is detected while vehicle is not exposed to light (indoor etc.), check DTC again while light from incandescent light is applied to sunload sensor Testing and Inspection. If B1504 or B1505 is not detected in this check, sunload sensor is in good condition.
Using SUZUKI Scan Tool
1. Confirm that ignition mode of keyless push start system is "OFF".
2. Connect SUZUKI scan tool to data link connector (DLC) (1).
Special Tool
(A): SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT)
3. Apply light from directly above sunload sensor, holding incandescent light of approximately 100 W about 100 mm (3.94 in.) away from sunload sensor.
4. Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
5. Read DTC according to instructions displayed on SUZUKI scan tool and print it or write it down. Refer to SUZUKI scan tool operator's manual for further details.
If communication between scan tool and HVAC control module is not possible, check if communication with scan tool is possible by connecting it to HVAC control module in another vehicle. If communication is possible in this case, scan tool is in good condition. Next, check DLC and serial data line (circuit) in the vehicle with which communication was not possible.
6. After completing the check, push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF" and disconnect SUZUKI scan tool from DLC.
Not Using SUZUKI Scan Tool
Current DTC
1. Confirm that ignition mode of keyless push start system is "OFF".
2. Apply light from directly above sunload sensor, holding incandescent light of approximately 100 W about 100 mm (3.94 in.) away from sunload sensor.
3. Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
4. Set driver and passenger side temperature selector to 72 °F or 25 °C.
5. Push "AUTO" switch (1) and defrost switch (2) simultaneously.
NOTE: Step 3) and 4) must be finished within 15 seconds after completing Step 2).
6. Check for DTC (3) displayed on VFD.
NOTE:
- If DTC is checked within 15 seconds after engine starting, "- - -" is displayed on VFD for a few seconds. This indicates system check status of HVAC control module.
- If HVAC control module detects DTC, DTC is displayed on VFD for about 3 minutes continuously.
- If no abnormality is detected, "END" is displayed on VFD for about 4 seconds.
- When HVAC control module detects 2 or more DTCs, each one is displayed once starting from the higher priority DTC.
- DTC is displayed on VFD according to the following steps:
a. Higher priority DTC appears for 4 seconds.
b. No DTC appears for 0.5 second.
c. Next priority DTC appears for 4 seconds.
d. No DTC appears for 0.5 second.
e. Process continues until all detected DTCs are displayed.
f. DTC display is repeated in same steps for about 3 minutes.
- HVAC control module will cancel DTC display due to any of the following conditions:
- Ignition mode of keyless push start system is changed to "OFF".
- Both "AUTO" switch and defrost switch are pushed simultaneously.
7. After completing above check, push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
History DTC
1. Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
2. Set driver and passenger side temperature selector to 72 °F or 25 °C.
3. Push "AUTO" switch (1) and "MODE" switch (2) simultaneously.
NOTE: Steps 2) and 3) must be finished within 15 seconds after completing Step 1).
4. Check for DTC (3).
NOTE:
- If history DTC is stored in HVAC control module, fan mark (4) and history DTC is displayed on VFD for about 3 minutes continuously.
- If no history DTC is stored in its memory, fan mark and "END" is displayed on VFD for about 3 minutes continuously.
- When HVAC control module stores 2 or more history DTCs, each one is displayed once starting from the higher priority DTC.
- History DTC is displayed on VFD according to the following steps:
a. Higher priority DTC appears for 4 seconds.
b. No DTC appears for 0.5 second.
c. Next priority DTC appears for 4 seconds.
d. No DTC appears for 0.5 second.
e. Remaining DTCs are displayed in order of priority.
f. DTC display is repeated in same step for about 3 minutes.
- HVAC control module will cancel DTC display due to any of the following conditions:
- Ignition mode of keyless push start system is changed to "OFF".
- Both "AUTO" switch and "MODE" switch are pushed simultaneously.
5. After completing above check, push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
